Interested in Developing Your Leadership Skills?

Applications for the 2021-22 Roane County Youth Leadership program are now being accepted. The program is open to students from all high schools in Roane County as well as private school and home-schooled students who will complete the 9th, 10th or 11th grade in the spring of 2021.

The goal of the yearlong program is for students to improve their leadership skills through class study, interactions with community leaders and exercising the skills they learned through a community service project.  The program starts with students participating in a week of day events, typically the first week of June.  Other components of the program require students to attend local government sessions including County Commission, City Council and School Board Meeting and the students will have at least three after school sessions through the school year..

Interested students must complete an application to be considered for the program. Selection is made by an independent panel and is based on the student application as well as recommendations from their principal, a teacher and community references. Applications must be received by the deadline of February15, 2021.  No late applications will be considered.  If you have questions about the program or would like to receive an application, you may email or call 865-414-3335 and leave a message for a return call. Please visit their Facebook page “Roane County Youth Leadership” for information as well.
