MHS Counseling Department Mission, Vision, and Beliefs

MHS Counseling Vision Statement

The vision of the Midway High School Counseling program is to help students achieve their best and produce responsible, independent graduates. The program will address academic, personal/social, and career/college readiness goals.  Our hope is to graduate productive citizens to become leaders in today’s world as part of Roane County Schools mission of “Learning Today… Leading Tomorrow.”

MHS Mission Statement

The mission of the Midway High School Counseling Department is to provide a comprehensive counseling program that focuses on the social, emotional, academic, and career preparation/college planning needs for all students. The counselor seeks to have a positive impact by working with students, parents, and the community to meet needs of the students so they are prepared with knowledge and skills to become a productive member of society.

Beliefs

A comprehensive school counseling program is available to all students in the three domains: academic, social/personal development, and college and career readiness.

All students can learn and achieve academic greatness when given the opportunity and appropriate supports available to their unique needs and abilities.

All students deserve an adult who will listen, be present, be prepared and be kind.

School counselors advocate on behalf of students and families to foster the relationship between home, school, and community in an effort to increase student achievement and prepare students to be productive members of society.
